Animal Liberation Malta activists revealed that 3 dolphins died last year between August and September 2021 at the Mediterraneo Marine Park.
Citizens lab supports their initiative to bring to light this information which has been kept secret even though the Maltese veterinary department was aware of what had happened.
Shame on Mediterraneo for withholding this information and for lying when questioned about the dolphins – the park had claimed that these 3 dolphins had been moved to a facility in Spain.
Good on ALM for asking Alison Bezzina, Commissioner for Animal Welfare, that the investigation by the Government Veterinary Department and all documents and correspondence from the Veterinary Department on this case be made public
If you are angry about this follow Animal Liberation Malta on Facebook and make sure your turn up to their future protests. Most importantly boycott Mediterraneo and campaign on social media to help people understand why there is nothing educational about taking children to see dolphins in this kind of environment.
Transparency is key to healthy democracies. The case involving the three dolphins needs to be made public and Mediterraneo need to be held accountable.
We also think its high time Mediterraneo park stops this abuse and adheres to the law which has banned circuses with animal performers since 2014 – don’t you?
