« Insights on Modern Youth activism » The Case of University of Malta Students
Young people today face many challenges resulting from climate and demographic change, global health insecurity, rapid economic and social change and a revolution in technology. The aim of the study was to provide an insight on the prevalence of youth activism, as well as understanding factors that act as motivators or barriers for such involvement.

Malta is located in the Central Mediterranean. In 2019, people who were rescued at sea and disembarked in Malta mostly departed from Libya. In 2019, the estimate numbers of persons who died or went missing at sea was 1,845 people.

The number of migrants being admitted to Mount Carmel hospital for mental health treatment has doubled in the last two years. As of last month, 105 migrants received treatment at the mental health hospital, compared with 53 in 2017. The figures came to light through a parliamentary question asked by Nationalist MP Mario Galea.

Council of Europe anti-corruption watchdog, GRECO has said that Malta has not yet implemented a national anti-corruption strategy, and that Malta has only implemented “in a satisfactory manner” two out of its 23 recommendations.
