About the Event

Vocal and Harp Performance by Soprano – Gillian Zammit, singers from the Opera Nova Project: Mezzo Soprano – Nicole Vassallo, Tenor – Jester Rosales, Harpist – Anne Marie Camilleri Podesta’.

Gillian Zammit is a gifted and highly accomplished Maltese soprano. She is much esteemed as a recital singer and as an exponent of Baroque music, performing regularly in the Valletta International Baroque Festival, the Utrecht Early Music Festival in Holland and many other prestigious festivals in Europe.

Anne Marie Camilleri Podesta’ is a renowned Maltese harpist. At sixteen she became a member of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and has consistently performed with it. She has played with the European Symphonieta, the European Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and other famous orchestras.

The Opera Nova Project was founded by Gillian Zammit and Denise Mulholland with the aim of providing a holistic high level of musical education to exceptionally talented young local voice students and to create a local and international platform for these students.

The audience will be fascinated by works by Massenet, Debussy, Berlioz, Gounod and Fauré.

This concert is being held thanks to the valuable support of the Embassy of France and the Alliance Française de Malte-Méditerranée. Din I-Art Felwa sincerely thanks the Ambassador H.E. Madame Sandrine Lelong-Motta and the Cultural Counsellor M. Renaud Lallement as well as the President and the Director of the Alliance M. Stephane Croce and M. Thomas Lamouroux for their unfailing support.

Din I-Art Helwa is this year proudly celebrating the 60th Anniversary of its foundation. In celebration of this important milestone, this year’s 26th Edition of the Bir Miftuh International Music Festival augurs to be a special and memorable one.

Tickets for each concert are against a donation of €25 per person and include refreshments after the performance in the church grounds. Block bookings are against a donation of €95 for 4 concerts, €70 for 3 concerts and €46 for 2 concerts.
